Thanks to Savannah and Sarah for the info:

I just wanted to let you know that they mentioned Twilight at the end of American Idol tonight! Adam Lambert sang a song and at the end he was compared to none other than our Robert Pattinson!! Also, after that comment was made, Ryan Seacrest mentioned Edward Cullen on stage and Adam said he loved the books and the movie.

When reviewing contestant Adam Lambert's performance, Randy Jackson called him a "combination of Steven Tyler meets Fall Out Boy meets Robert Pattinson from Twilight," which was followed by the ubiquitous Rob-fangirl-screams. Then Ryan Seacrest addressed Adam saying, "So Randy sees a little Edward Cullen in you from Twilight." Adams response: "I love those books and that movie. I love it. Thank you!"

Should Oscar Reward Pattinson?

Posted by Robin on 25 Feb 2009 || 20 Comments

E! Online have an article in which they ask whether Rob and Zac Efron saved the Oscars:

"Did Pattinson and Efron really save the Oscars? Fans of Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Kate Winslet, among others, say, "Are you outta your mind?" The numbers, however, suggest the two tween gods sure didn't hurt. The show's ratings among teens 12-17 and kids 2-11 zoomed, up 25 percent and 33 percent, respectively, from last year, ABC said, citing Nielsen stats."

I haven't been a teen in a while, so I can't speak for them, but I haven't watched the Oscars in years, probably since LOTR, and yet I watched Sunday. Hmmm, I wonder why? wink You can read the article here.

Posted by Robin on 22 Feb 2009 || 12 Comments

The L.A. Times has reported on another Oscar rumor. This says that presenters and performers have been "asked NOT to walk the red carpet." The theory is that they are either trying to take ratings away from other Oscar "pre-shows" or trying to force viewers to watch the show in order to catch sight of their favorite star. Of course, it is probably a bit of both. Read more here.

Clearing Up the Madonna Report

Posted by Shelly on 18 Feb 2009 || 11 Comments

On a follow-up on my previous post that stated the report that Madonna may be involved with New Moon, I tried to contact Ryan Seacrest and E! on many occasions to confirm the report, but alas, to no avail. However, EW have a follow-up. Here's what they have to say:

Widespread Internet chatter that Madonna may participate in some capacity in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, may be only partly true, a source close to the production tells EW. Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the movie series, has no plans to cast the pop star and sometime actor in New Moon. However, because Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary, is a producer on the project, there is some talk of her providing songs for the sequel. Still, no deals have been made yet, and the plans haven't progressed beyond the that'd be cool stage.

How to Be a Vampire in NYC

Posted by Michelle on 17 Feb 2009 || 0 Comments

Guidespot.com has a pretty funny article about how to be a vampire in New York City. It's not Twilight-specific, but I think most of you will enjoy it. Read it here.

When it comes to furnishing one’s home, it may be dark and it it may be private, but Ikea simply will not do. You’ve got to have plenty of rich fabrics, uncomfortable armchairs and settees, and candle lanterns. Be the envy of your friends. And if you’ve killed them all, well at least appreciate that one’s home is one’s sanctuary.

It is unknown to whether Madonna will either act in the second installment to the saga film or sing for the soundtrack or both.

A Report from The Chicago Twilight Convention

Posted by Michelle on 08 Feb 2009 || 3 Comments

Twilight fan Haley has sent us a report from the Twilight Chicago Convention which lasted from February 6-8, 2009. Read it below! Thanks Haley!

I went to the "Forks High School Prom" on Friday night and they had contests to win Bella's engagement ring. They also surprised us with a Justin Chon (Eric Yorkie) and Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) Q & A session. It was short but still really fun. I also went to the convention on Saturday and waited an hour in line to get Ashley's autograph. The stars who showed up were Ashley, Justin (replacing Kellan Lutz, who couldn't make it), and Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen). They each got a half hour Q & A session and autograph and photo-op sessions. There weren't too many vendors. Throughout the day, they had "New Moon Movie News", "Modern Vampirism in Practice and Culture", "Twilight Comic-con Presentation", "Vampires: The Creatures of the Night", "Taming Tilight: Did the Movie get it Right? discussion", "Team Edward Vs. Team Jacob discussion", and at night, the "Dance of the Undead- An Evening in Volterra". There was a lot to do and everyone had a great time.

Twilight Interview in Tú Magazine

Posted by Michelle on 07 Feb 2009 || 11 Comments

Thanks to Vale for sending us the translated version of an interview with Kristen and Robert. The interview was first published in November of 2008 in Tú Magazine. Read it below!

In a hotel in Beverly Hills, California we interviewed the actors of the Twilight movie. We start our chat with the gorgeous Kristen Stewart who plays Bella Swan.

Do you like this kind of stories?
Actually, I'm not obsessed with vampires, but I really liked this story.

How do you describe Bella?
She's a strong character. It?s easy to relate to her and love her from the start.

Did you meet with Stephenie Meyer?
She was very involved with the production of the movie, she checked the script with Catherine and she loved it. She joined us while filming, but just for fun, she never got too involved.

What was it like working with Robert?
It was really cool, he's a great actor. In this movie he plays the ideal man. I don't think you can find a guy like that in real life, so it's great, that's why I took the job (laughs).

Are you ready for the attention you'll receive after this movie?
Maybe not. When you make a movie your life stops being private. But with this movie the attention will focus on the story, not in me.

Have you felt the pressure with comments that fans make on the internet?
Of course, people are very excited about this. I don't know what will happen after the release of the movie. People like the story, kids spend months reading the books, they dedicate a lot of time to Twilight. I wouldn't want to disappoint anybody. I think the only thing that matters is that I?m very committed to this project.

How different is your character in the movie from the character in the books?
Not much. We depend on what the book tells and what its characters go through.

You grew up in Los Angeles, California. How did you decide to become an actress?
I started acting when I was 10 years old and I decided to grow up in this industry.

Do you feel like you need to work on improving your performance?
When you go for a role many people will think you're wrong for it despite the fact that you feel like you're perfect for it. There's always going to be something to pick on.

Catherine, has talked about the passion young kids have for this story, would you say your generation is more passionate than others?
It's a universal thing, but I don't think it's exclusive to our generation.

Robert Pattinson made our jaws drop with the magnetism, sense of humour and sweetness in which he spoke about role as the "vampire in love".

How did you get the role?
Someone sent me the script when I was in London. I read it and I thought I had to film myself and send them the tape, but that was silly. I had to go to Los Angeles, and there's where I met Kristen. I auditioned for the role with her and three days later I got the job.

Your character is very different from what he see in the typical love stories, did you know that?
Yes, and it's okay to be different. This is a love story that shows that things are not impossible. If you love someone, you can beat any obstacle. To do anything out of love is the most important message of this story.

Do you think you have anything in common with your character? Do you like vampires?
No. I'm nothing like Edward, at all. And I prefer dogs instead of vampires.

In you previous movie you were not involved in the promotion as much as you are now.
I was more interested in dating back then. I'm more responsible with Twilight now.

Why do you think directors like British men for romantic and classic roles? What is it about British men?
I don't know, it's so weird. In this movie Edward is a total American because of his characteristics. Edward is an all American guy with a very traditional upbringing. That's what it says in the book, but he's not that typical if we analyze the way his character develops through out the story.

How do you define this movie?
I don't think it's a vampire movie. It's a love story. It's about a disturbed guy and the girl who loves him and who doesn't care about the life he's living. She just loves him. The vampire theme is just a way to tell the story.

People call you the new Jude Law. They've been comparing your work and style with this fellow Brit. What do you think about it?
I guess if people say this it's just because I'm British.

Did you use stunt doubles for your action sequences?
Yes, I had to because of my constitution. Stunt doubles are tall and lean and they can run really fast. With their help my character looks better. When I saw them at work I was shocked.

Did you use body doubles for your love scenes too?
No, I did do those on my own (laughs). Those scenes were very sweet, I enjoyed them.

Kristen said you were an excellent kisser.
She did? Wow!

MoviesOnline: Speaking of roles, can you talk about Twilight? Have you sealed the deal for New Moon?

Dakota: It's not a hundred percent yet, set in stone but it's not totally untrue or a rumor or anything. It's definitely a possibility and it would be really, really fun to be a part of. I'm a big fan of the cast and to join would be a really great honor and I really hope that it works out and hope I can give you guys a definite answer soon. [laughs]

MoviesOnline: What are you looking forward to most?

Dakota: I think just playing an evil vampire. That's really cool so if I got to do it that would be probably the most fun part.

LITTLE, BROWN AND COMPANY TO RELEASE AN INTIMATE LOOK REVEALING HOW STEPHENIE MEYER'S TWILIGHT WAS SPUN INTO BOX OFFICE GOLD

TWILIGHT: DIRECTOR'S NOTEBOOK
WRITTEN BY CATHERINE HARDWICKE

February 4, 2009 (New York, NY) – Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, will release Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight: Director’s Notebook as a one-day laydown on March 17, 2009, it was announced today by Megan Tingley, the division’s Senior Vice President and Publisher. This intimate look at the making of Summit Entertainment’s film follows visionary director Hardwicke through the creative process. Designed to replicate the director’s own personal notebook that she kept on set, readers will discover the inside secrets on casting, location scouting and wardrobe to storyboard sketches, behind-the-scenes photographs, personal notes about Catherine’s favorite scenes and much more. This one-of-a-kind experience for all Twilight fans will be released in hardcover for $17.99 with an announced first printing of 500,000 copies.

“With this book, I tried to show fans and future directors some of the process that the crew and I went through filming Twilight,” said Hardwicke. “My challenge was to translate Stephenie’s powerful book and make you feel what she makes you feel when you read her works.”

The movie version of Twilight has grossed over $340 million worldwide since its release on November 21, 2008. The movie debuted at #1 at the box office with $70 million, making it the highest debut for a female director. Twilight: Director’s Notebook is being released just in time for the March 21st multi-million copy release of Twilight on DVD.

In three years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon. The Twilight Saga’s translation rights have been sold in 39 countries and over 42 million copies have been sold worldwide. The last book in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, sold 1.3 million copies in its first day on-sale, breaking publisher records.

Catherine Hardwicke trained as an architect at the University of Texas, and started in film as a production designer. She designed over 20 films, including Tombstone, Tank Girl, Three Kings, and Vanilla Sky. Hardwicke’s debut as a feature film co-writer and director was the Sundance award winning Thirteen. Made for under $2 million dollars, it garnered an Academy Award-nomination for Holly Hunter. She has since directed Lords of Dogtown, The Nativity Story, and most recently, Twilight.

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers is a division of Hachette Book Group USA, a leading trade publisher based in New York and a division of Hachette Livre, the second largest publisher in the world. FSR: Lionsgate to Buy Summit?

Posted by Jenny on 03 Feb 2009 || 0 Comments

News coming down the wire last night about a potential buy-out of Summit Entertainment by Lionsgate has sent shockwaves through the online film community this morning. Namely, everyone seems to want to speculate about what the blood-thirsty Execs. over at Lionsgate might do with Summit’s one and only successful property, Twilight.

At this point we are taking this as a complete rumor, as both sides — including our half-dozen inside sources — are staying relatively quiet.

Jackson to Star in The Last Airbender

Posted by Jenny on 03 Feb 2009 || 4 Comments

MTV have a new Movies Blog about The Last Airbender, a movie which is set to star Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel and Twilight's Jackson Rathbone.

Patel is playing Zuko, a member of the Fire Nation and one of the villains of the series’ fantasy world. He’s replacing pop star Jesse McCartney, whose tour dates left him unable to commit to the film or its boot camp.

Rathbone dodged a similar scheduling conflict — he is signed to reprise his role of Jasper in “New Moon,” but was able to negotiate his appearences in both films, though his “Avatar” role is unspecified.

Stephen King talks Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling

Posted by Vi on 03 Feb 2009 || 87 Comments

Stephen King was interviewed by USA Weekend and he quite a few things to say about Stephenie and her work. Some was good, some was critical, and he obviously did a comparison between Stephenie and J.K. Rowling, author of the famous Harry Potter series.

"People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it’s very clear that she’s writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It’s exciting and it’s thrilling and it's not particularly threatening because they’re not overtly sexual. A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that’s a shorthand for all the feelings that they’re not ready to deal with yet."

"Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. ... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good."

So what's your take on King's opinions?

SciFiWire: Why Dakota Would Love to Play a Bloodsucker

Posted by Jenny on 01 Feb 2009 || 4 Comments

SciFiWire have a new Dakota Fanning article, and you can read it here. Thanks Robin!

Fanning would play the role of Jane, one of the aristocratic Volturi vampires from Italy, who has a twin brother named Alec. "I think it would be really cool to be something different than I've ever been before," she said. "I mean, a vampire, it's really neat. The character I would be playing is kind of evil and mean, so it would be a fun opportunity."

Edward Cullen Pyjamas at HT

Posted by Jenny on 01 Feb 2009 || 19 Comments

Thanks to Sandra for sending us this info:

Okay this is epic. I went into Hot Topic today and there was an Edward pajama set! I don't know what the official name is or anything and it's not being sold online just yet. But the top is light blue and sleeveless with a picture of Edward in the center. The pants are basically all black with the word twilight vertically down the right side. It's made out of light material and it's just over $30 (maybe $32.99?). I was so mad that I didn't have my camera! Oh, they also have a new tote with the familiar "I love boys who sparkle" as well as a new shirt that says "I dreamed of Edward Cullen" (with a picture of Edward on it).

Edit: See a pic of them on eBay here.

Edit: Thanks to Joline for sending us two more pictures of Twilight PJs. You can view them in the gallery here.

Edi Gathegi will Be "Camping Out" for the DVD

Posted by Michelle on 01 Feb 2009 || 0 Comments

Edi Gathegi, who plays Laurent in the Twilight movie, will be camping out with fans on the night of March 20, waiting for the DVD release! Something I found interesting:

Sharp-eyed fans of the movie will notice that some of the special effects have been beefed up and retouched just for the DVD and Blu-ray releases.

Extras include extended and deleted scenes, music videos, a commentary, a Comic-Con featurette, and a seven-part making-of documentary. Bonuses— such as a cell phone skin — will vary depending on the retailer.

Rob Pattinson Thinks He's "Really Not That Interesting"

Posted by Michelle on 01 Feb 2009 || 5 Comments

TheImproper.com has a pretty interesting article with the one and only Robert Pattinson, who happens to think he's "not that interesting." laughing I think some people beg to differ! Lol, read more here. Thanks Robin! Some very insightful words from Robert:

"I don’t like the way the film industry is," he says. "If you come with a good script and then it goes to the studios and gets financing, it all gets changed because they want to make money. And it’s like, how do you know if it’s going to make money or not? All you’re doing is making it generic when you do that, and making it generic is no guarantee that it’s going to make money, either."

MTV: Twilight Cast at "PUSH" Premiere

Posted by Michelle on 01 Feb 2009 || 0 Comments

MTV has an article about the Twilight cast at the LA premiere of Dakota Fanning's new movie "PUSH." This was particularly interesting to me:

Maybe Summit’s just fueling the fires surrounding the Dakota rumors (both “Push” and “Twilight” are distributed by Summit Entertainment). Or maybe not. Twilighters, you’re the experts: am I reading way too into it, or do you think there might be a certain casting announcement coming our way soon?

MoviesOnline.ca Interviews Dakota

Posted by Michelle on 01 Feb 2009 || 0 Comments

MoviesOnline.ca recently ran into Dakota Fanning and asked her a couple of questions regarding her possible role as Jane in the New Moon movie. Read it here. Thanks to Michael from MoviesOnline.ca for the info!

MoviesOnline: When you consider roles like Cassie in “Push,” or Coraline, and now Jane in “New Moon,” is there a common theme or something that attracts you to all of them? Is it the complexity of the character or the opportunity to grow as an actor?
Dakota: I think that they’re just different from each other and they’re different kinds of films and, you know, I like to kind of always keep myself on the edge of my seat of what I’m going to do next and do something that I’ve never done before and something that maybe I’ve always wanted to do. I think it’s hard to say how you plan out what you want to do. I think you just know it when it comes to you.

About: I was skeptical at first about the series. All my friends were reading it in 9th grade and I just wasn't into it. I had been burned pretty bad by a relationship and I just wasn't believing the whole 'love story' thing. Then, on one fateful night, I was at a book sale and was desperately seeking a new read. Twilight seemed to be glowing on the shelf and I was drawn to buy it. I didn't know why, like I said, I didn't want to even think about love. I went home and cracked open the fresh book. I instantly related to Bella. Her feelings became my feelings. Her curiosity became my curiosity. I carried the book around with me everywhere I went. I found myself even slowing down in reading it because I didn't want it to end. I closed the back cover and took a deep breath, then I realized something. I had learned to believe in love again. A simple book and taught me to believe in what I thought just couldn't exist. I also learned that every girl deserves their very own Edward Cullen. No one should settle for just some guy. He needs to be your guy. Your dream guy. Well, let's say I am not a skeptic anymore. As a freshman in college, I find myself having a lot of free time to re-read the books... again. I have my own 59 song playlist for all the books on my i-Tunes and I love that it brings me back to the moments in the books. I have met so many people just by saying that I am a "Twilighter". It amazing how passionate you can become about a novel. I am so happy I bought Twilight on a whim. It has transformed my life and taught me so much about myself. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my Twilight story.

Month: October 2009

About: Recently, my youngest aunt died unexpectedly in her sleep.I was left in the most depressed mood that I've ever experienced. I felt like something inside my heart had fallen out, was missing, and would never come back. It was a physical condition that literally made me uncomfortable. I thought of New Moon, and how Bella feels throughout that book. She is always holding herself together with her crossed arms. I realized that this was the closest description to what I was feeling. My chest hurt, like it was falling apart inside. Then I thought of how Bella turns into a zombie for several months and decided that I didn't want to be like that. I didn't want to lose myself in grief, and I know my aunt wouldn't have wanted me to do that either. I know that this case is different, in that I will never get that piece of my heart back for good, but I don't want to be like Zombie Bella. I want to be strong, like Bella becomes after her loss. I will never forget how Twilight helped me straighten my thoughts and fix myself in the worst times of my life. It takes an amazing book to do something like that. And an amazing writer to portray such a real and painful emotion so realistically. From all of the ways that Twilight has changed my life, this is definitely the biggest. It helpled to support me when I thought nothing could, and gave me hope when everything in my world was bleak.
