We recently received an email from Lana Veenker, the casting director for Twilight, about all of the New Moon audition/casting questions they have gotten. Because New Moon will be shooting in Vancouver, her office will not be casting the movie. Twi-hard, the term for die-hard Twilight fans coined my Michael Welch, is being nominated for Word of the Year according to this article! Thanks Jennifer!

Among Barrett's nominations are Twi-hard (rhymes with "die hard" and describes a fan of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling Twilight book series), words inspired by the micro-writing website Twitter (Tweet, Twitt, etc.) and frugalista (a person who is frugal but fashionable).

Like the book it’s based on, the film succeeded because it framed teenage heartbreak and longing as a very real matter of life and death: If Bella goes off with Edward, she will be bit in the neck and drained of her blood. The Twilight deluxe collector's edition is now in stock at UK Borders stores! It's the US edition, and is priced at £15 (it has £3 off the £18 RRP). The store where I work only got 6 copies, so it doesn't look like there are large quantities available over here.

Filipino Twilight TV Series

Tweenies all over are outraged over news of a Filipino version of Twilight for television set to begin production soon.

Actors Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be portraying Edward and Isabella, respectively, in the ABS-CBN production which will treat the vampire love story as "drama, romance, and fantasy."

It will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina and is scheduled to begin filming sometime in February, in both the Philippines and abroad.

Robert Pattinson is number 20 in USA Today's Top 100 People of 2008 list. They placed him there for his role as Edward Cullen in Twilight.

20. Rob Pattinson. His glistening skin distracted millions of teen girls this year, and it's safe to say the Twilight franchise will transform the actor into a superstar. Even if the sequel bites, Pattinson's hair is a box-office cash machine.

As we know, he's just cut that hair. sad But it will grow back!

My Movie Review/Thoughts

I saw the movie 4 times yesterday (11:30, 3:20, 6:10 and 9:00 showings at Parrs Wood Cineworld in Didsbury… was anyone else there? I was wearing a black t-shirt with the Twilight logo in red) and loved every minute of it. Quite a few people have e-mailed asking me to post a review, so I’ve sort of made a ‘liked’ and ‘didn’t like’ list, with general thoughts at the end. I’m still processing everything, so my apologies if it doesn’t quite make sense!

I was at my hot topic yesterday buying a lion & lamb necklace, when they pulled out something for me to get. They are selling a package of winter gear. It includes a hat, scarf, and gloves. They are light blue and have the Cullen Crest on them and on the back of the scarf it reads Twilight with a design. It's 40 dollars.

Update: Taylor Talks to MTV About Jacob Role in New Moon

Taylor Lautner, who portrays Jacob Black in Twilight, spoke with MTV about his role in New Moon and whether or not he'll be replaced as some recent rumors have suggested. Here are a few excerpts:

"I have been working out. I've been working out since the day we finished filming 'Twilight.' I just weighed myself today; I've put on 19 pounds," the noticeably larger Lautner told us, promising that he'll be big enough to fit Stephenie Meyer's physical description of Jacob Black in "New Moon" when cameras begin rolling in 12 weeks. "I'm guaranteeing Weitz 10 more [pounds] by filming. I get to meet Chris on Friday, in two days, so I'm excited. I'm going to have lunch with him."

"I've heard a few things," he said of Copon. "I don't really know too much to comment on it. As far as I know, I haven't been told 'no' yet, so it's still all up in the air."

Also, Stephenie is aware of the numerous Twilight conventions happening next year. It is exciting to see so many fans wanting to celebrate the books together. However, these conventions are not authorized or endorsed by Stephenie and she will not be attending any of the conventions. New Moon Release Date: November 20th 2009

MTV have a new article which tells us that the New Moon movie will be releasd in the US on November 20th, 2009.

The second movie based on the vampire series by Stephenie Meyer will hit theaters on November 20, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Perhaps they're superstitious, but that's almost exactly a year to the day after "Twilight" opened.

"Same time, same place," said Richie Fay, the distribution head for Summit Entertainment. "If it's also the same gross, we'll be very pleased. Hopefully, we'll have even better results."

MTV have a new article about possible casting for New Moon.

MTV News can confirm that 26-year-old "Scorpion King 2" actor Michael Copon [pronounced "COPE-on"] is one of several actors Weitz is considering to play the new, larger Jacob Black.

[Ben] Barnes is believed to be campaigning for the role of Aro, a mind-reading vampire whose "New Moon" encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together.

UPDATE: View Point Inn Damaged by Fire

The View Point Inn, where the prom scene in Twilight was filmed, has been damaged by a fire. The fire began Sunday night and damaged some of the walls, the kitchen, and basement. The cause of the fire is still unknown. You can see their video report here.

Jackson Rathbone's 100 Monkeys Show

And now for some not-so-Twilight-related news laughing BAE's LA rep, Robyn, recently went to the 100 Monkeys show in LA on 12/09/08 (Jackson Rathbone is part of this band, folks so I guess it is somewhat Twilight related!) and she has sent us pictures and a great review! Thanks Robyn!

100 Monkeys Performance is solid gold!
I will be honest, as a Twilighter I would have never heard of 100 Monkeys had
it not been for Jackson Rathbone playing Jasper. But this is my newest reason
to be glad I am a Twilighter because 100 Monkeys ROCKED! The show was amazing and their energy was contagious. My ears were still ringing the next morning.

Packing the 24K Lounge in true rock band style, they played an eclectic mix
starting their set off with two blues-y feeling songs featuring two guest
vocalists . They followed up with a wide array of tunes including Wasteland 2
which can be heard on their MySpace, and concluded the evening with a freestyle session. The entire band was incredible, even switching instruments at various times in the show and switching off on lead vocals. Throughout the night Mr. Rathbone himself sang vocals, and switched between guitar, bass and the keyboard.

The evening also included music from a lovely singer/songwriter named Kyrie,
and the rock fueled band, Wake Up Lucid. Both were amazing in very different
ways. Kyrie had a sound like no one I have ever heard before, mixing Hawaiian tones with blues elements. Wake up Lucid was like Jet on Red Bull... more energy that could be contained in the venue. They rocked so hard I'm
surprised the speakers didn't break.

It was an all around amazing experience with all the bands entertaining a
packed house. These great musicians deserve some credit, and I was very glad to be able to watch them perform.

MTV have a new interview article with Catherine Hardwicke, in which she talks about the Twilight DVD.

Asked when the disc will arrive in stores, Hardwicke said, "I think spring. Maybe right after Valentine's Day." She then added even more information to the details she gave us about the DVD last month. "We have 10 deleted or extended scenes. There's some juicy stuff in there," she said, adding that one would correct an omission spotted by many Meyer fans. "I think in one of them, [Edward and Bella] do say, 'I love you.'

Stephenie Confirms Chris Weitz as NM Director

Stephenie has updated her site with the news that Chris Weitz has been confirmed as the director for New Moon. Here's a bit of what she had to say:

I've had the chance to talk to Chris, and I can tell you that he is excited by the story and eager to keep the movie as close to the book as possible. He is also very aware of you, the fans, and wants to keep you all extremely happy. (Torches and pitchforks are not going to be necessary.)

I'm excited to work with Chris and I think he brings a lot to the table, not the least of which for me is that he wrote the screenplay for and directed one of my favorite movies of all time, About a Boy. I'm really looking forward to seeing his vision for New Moon.

She also posted a letter from him, which you can read here. In the letter he says that he has seen Twilight in which he was 'alternately entranced and left hungry for more.' He says he is a fan of Catherine and that he will devote himself to making the very best and most faithful version of New Moon that can brought to the screen.

Twlight is in the #2 spot, with The Dark Knight coming in at #1 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at #3.

Larry Carroll over at MTV has spoken with his contacts over at Summit about Entertainment Weekly's recent report about Chris Weitz being confirmed as the director New Moon. According to his contacts, the deal has not been consummated although they are definitely in talks with Mr. Weitz.

EW Confirms Chris Weitz as New Moon Director

Entertainment Weekly have confirmed that The Golden Compass director, Chris Weitz, will be directing New Moon. We may also assume that because New Moon and Eclipse are being filmed back to back that he will be directing Eclipse as well.

Chris also directed American Pie with his brother and was nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay for About a Boy, which he also directed with his brother. His experience with special effects on The Golden Compass should help him with his the effects for New Moon.

An announcement is expected from Summit Entertainment on Sunday, December 14th. Chris could be in Vancouver on Monday to begin pre-production for the film. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly for the news!

MTV: Rob in Parts Per Billion

MTV have a new Movies Blog about Rob's next film, Parts Per Billion.

“It’s an ensemble story,” explained Rosario Dawson, who will also appear in the film alongside Olivia Thirlby and Dennis Hopper when it begins shooting next month. “[The script features several] different storylines that are going on.”

Directed by newcomer Brian Horiuchi, “Billion” tells the story of three couples (including Pattinson and Thirlby) dealing with the same reality-shaking event that threatens to tear them apart. Pattinson will shoot “Billion” before he reports for duty on the “Twilight” sequel “New Moon,” and the film is expected to be released in late 2009/early 2010.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the fledgling Summit studio does not want to re-hire "baby-faced" Taylor Lautner as Jacob. They don't think he has what it takes to play the werewolf love interest/lead in New Moon.

You played a character that was 350 years old, did that affect how you approached the character at all? Or did you even think about that?
Peter: That was my main concern. I related to him being a patriarch, because I have kids of my own. I got who he was as person through the books. My challenge was how do I bring 350 years plus onto the screen, so I did a lot of history research. I wanted to learn about the period he grew up in, and go through each decade where he might be and where his travels took him... to Italy, Chicago and all of those places in those times. I thought just having that knowledge might help. I felt that the way he moved and talked should reflect someone from a different period, so those were the things that I worked on.

EW: November 20, 2009, Tentative New Moon Release Date

According to Entertainment Weekly, the tentative release date for New Moon will be November 20, 2009.

Summit Entertainment has tentatively slated Nov. 20, 2009, as the release date for New Moon, the Twilight sequel, which means any director who signs on to replace Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has to be in Vancouver by Dec. 15 to begin 12 weeks of preproduction before a mid-March start date.

They go on to confirm that Chris Weitz is in talks to direct the film.

So what director would want to take on such a big headache? Well, at press time, an offer was out to Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass), who put Summit on the map years ago when its foreign sales operation made tons of cash off of his first film, American Pie. (One source says Weitz has already had conversations with below-the-line crew for New Moon.)

They also have a bit to say on Taylor Lautner's role in the film and the Native Americans needed.

Two sources tell EW the studio doesn’t want to rehire baby-faced Taylor Lautner (pictured) as Jacob, though Lautner’s agent has apparently reached out to the ­imaging company behind The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in an attempt to demonstrate to Summit how a digitally bulked-up Lautner could work. (Summit says it won’t make a decision until a new filmmaker is on board.) There’s also the matter of finding a cast of Native American actors to play Jacob’s werewolf clan — a difficult challenge Hardwicke was also faced with before ­settling on Lautner, who isn’t completely ­Native American.

Twilight in Munich

Rob, Kristen and Catherine also attended the "Bayerischer Hof", a luxury five-star hotel in Munich, the day they came to introduce the movie. Around 10 fans and couple paparazzi had the chance to get autographs and pictures before they got into their cars to drive to the airport. Unfortunately no media (except for self-portraits with the stars) is to be found online yet.

The autograph session at 10 a.m. was planned to be 1 1/2 hours before the 15 minute spoiler and interviews at the Mathäser Filmpalast in Munich, but since some girls got hurt due to the extreme pushing and shoving, the autograph session got canceled and resulted in anger and tears of many girls (including me), so I did what it take to get the additional information on where the stars where going afterward, which I ended up getting by a very co-operative security man who promised me the information if I wouldn't tell anyone else (which I didn't) and met Rob, Kristen and Catherine later on at the five-star hotel "Bayerischer Hof."

New Moon & Eclipse Film Back to Back; Auditions Announced

The audition information for Eclipse is now online. According to Alan Baltes' website, both New Moon and Eclipse will be filmed back to back. Additionally, he confirmed that Catherine Hardwicke will not direct either New Moon or Eclipse. Filming is to begin in March and continue up until Eclipse is finished.

Summit Entertainment has started preparing the sequel New Moon, based on Stephenie Meyer's second book in the series, and to contain costs, the studio is filming the third book, Eclipse, back to back using the same new director. On Sunday, December 7th, Summit Entertainment confirmed that Catherine Hardwicke will not direct the films New Moon or Eclipse. Filming begins on New Moon in March, 2009, and will continue right through completion of Eclipse.

It has been confirmed by Summit Entertainment that Catherine Hardwicke will not be directing the next movie in the Twilight Saga, New Moon. They have just sent the following press release to us.


SUMMIT BEGINS SEARCH FOR NEW MOON DIRECTOR

Los Angeles , CA , December 7, 2008 – Summit Entertainment and director Catherine Hardwicke jointly announced today that the filmmaker will not be directing the next installment in the newly minted TWILIGHT film franchise. Summit ’s targeted end of 2009 or early 2010 release of the film, NEW MOON, does not work with Ms. Hardwicke’s required prep time to bring her vision of the film to the big screen. Thus as has been done before with many successful film franchises, the studio will employ a new director for NEW MOON.

"I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct NEW MOON,” said Hardwicke. “Directing TWILIGHT has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel-- it is a great story."

“Catherine did an incredible job in helping us to launch the TWILIGHT franchise and we thank her for all of her efforts and we very much hope to work with her on future Summit projects,” said Erik Feig, Summit ’s President of Production. “We as a studio have a mandate to bring the next installment in the franchise to the big screen in a timely fashion so that fans can get more of Edward, Bella and all of the characters that Stephenie Meyer has created. We are able to pursue an aggressive time frame as we have the luxury of only adapting the novels into screenplays as opposed to having to create a storyline from scratch.”

On Ew.com, they're choosing the best and worst of 2008 and Twilight is on the list (for the best). Under the Best Movies of 2008, Twilight is contending for favorite movie and best cameo for Stephenie Meyer. Under Best Books of 2008, Breaking Dawn is contending for year's best novel and under the question "Which would you rather have?" (it's a signed book either from J.K. Rowling or Stephenie Meyer). Lastly, under Best Music of 2008, the Twilight Soundtrack is up for "Which movie soundtrack did you listen to the most?"

Yesterday there was a special Twilight preview in Munich, Germany. They showed 15 minutes of the movie and some behind the scenes specials. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Catherine Hardwicke came and gave autographs. It was awesome. Robert looked great of course I got autographs from all of them. about 600 screaming girls (including me) attended the special preview.

People have a new article about Rob Pattinson, which includes quotes from the UK movie premiere.

Despite adoring fans, the single Pattinson, 22, tells PEOPLE he's not actively looking for a girlfriend. "I'm not like prowling around, no!" he laughs.

Hachette Rushing to Print More Books

Publishers Weekly have a new article about Hachette having to publish more Twilight Saga books due to high demand.

Apparently shipping over 22 million copies of Stephenie Meyer’s four bestsellers has not been enough to keep the season’s hottest selling book in stock. With reports from several independent booksellers that all of Meyer’s titles have been difficult to get, publisher Hachette has confirmed that it has gone back to press for 7.5 million additional copies.

I went to Hot Topic today and I saw new merchandise from Twilight.There was a pillowcase of Edward, I keychain and a pin which said "I love boys who sparkle" and there was also a jewelery box which you open and there is the Cullen's crest and plays the song "Clair de Lune", its very beautiful!!

I was at the Hot Topic at my mall, in Yuma, AZ, yesterday and saw a Twilight Music Box. It has a picture of Edward and Bella on the top and in the inside it has the Cullen crest and it spins. It plays the song Clair de Lune. When I checked the Hot Topic site it wasn't there. You can get it for like $30. Thanks to Kylie for this extra info!

First Reports on UK Premiere: It's a Black Carpet

The first reports from the UK Twilight premiere are coming online. Rob Pattinson wore a black tie/jacket with a white shirt, and Kristen wore a black dress. But, this time they didn't walk on a red carpet - they walked on a black carpet.



A few excerpts:

Director Catherine Hardwicke said: "We love London even though it's so cold. These fans are braver because they're out here and it's freezing so they are heartier souls."

Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella, claims some feminist groups disapproved of her character falling for a dominant vampire. She said: "It's a love story about two people who would die for each other. Bella has very innately female qualities, she really trusts herself. It takes a really strong person to subject themselves to that.

"A lot of feminist groups have problems with her which I don't understand because it takes someone very strong to be able to give that away."

I noticed it wasn't on the site yet, but at my Hot Topic store in the mall in Montclair, CA there was this adorable pair of necklaces! Each half was half of a heart with one saying "And so the Lion Fell" and the other saying "In Love with the Lamb". The respective necklaces connected and each had a small either lamb or lion charm to accompany it! I tried to take a picture but it didn't work. Both can be purchased together for $15.00.

Kristin Stewart was seen at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) last night with boyfriend Michael Angarano to leave for England for the Twilight UK premiere which takes place tomorrow in Leicester Square.

Additionally, earlier this morning, Rob Pattinson was seen arriving at Heathrow Airport in London and dashed off to his family's house.

Entertainment Weekly have posted their ideas on some stars who they think should have the Volturi roles for New Moon.

They think that Kristen Chenoweth, from Pushing Daisies or Glinda in Wicked, should be Jane. They throw out Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and Crispin Glover's names as Aro. And for Caius, they consider Christopher Lee (Lord of the Rings and Star Wars).
