Gallery Update: Promotional Movie Photo

Posted by Jenny on 30 Jun 2008 || 1 Comments

I have added an image of a promotional Twilight movie photo, which I think was given out at a book show in the US. I'm not sure of this, though.

On the front is an image of the teaser poster featuring Edward and Bella, and on the back is information on the movie, its growing popularity, and the success of the books.

I haven't scanned the front, as it contains licensing contact information.

To see a scan of the back of the photo in our gallery, click here.

(Sorry for the really strange picture; it's half scan and half photo. The text wouldn't show up, so I had to take a picture of it).

Twilighters.org Matt Bushell Interview

Posted by Michelle on 29 Jun 2008 || 0 Comments

Twilighters.org has an exclusive interview with Matt Bushell (who plays Phil). Click here to read it! Great job Twilighters.org!

Charlotte: Phil has no lines in the books, so how are you going to bring a virtually invisible character to life?
Matt: Right. How do you do that?. Well the beauty of this was, thank god for Catherine Hardwicke who took on this project because she allowed me to improv. So, there was a couple of lines in the script for me so it wasn’t completely without lines. But because of Catherine letting me improv I got more of a scene out of it. I had like one nice scene that I was involved in, where I had something to do and something to say instead of being completely silent. So in terms of the book, I didn’t have to do what the book told. I didn’t have to be completely silent in my time so I think Catherine was kinda good with that. And also, film is different. Film is different than the book. On film, to make this story carry, it’s gonna be a little different than the way it reads. And the brilliance of the book I certainly don’t deny but I’m really glad that they could work it out so I could speak.

BAE Exclusive Interview: Christian Serratos

Posted by Michelle on 26 Jun 2008 || 2 Comments

BellaAndEdward.com is proud to present an exclusive interview with Christian Serratos, a.k.a. Angela Weber. You can find this interview in our Movies>>Exclusive Interviews section or by just clicking here. Thanks a bunch to Christian and her management for the interview!

BAE: If you weren't playing Angela, which character would you like to portray in the movie?
Christian: Jane or Emily. Jane has the fun power. She seems to truly get away with murder. Emily seems like the character with the juiciest background. It would be great fun to play that out.

BAE: Have you met Stephenie yet? If so, what was she like?
Christian: She was fantastic. She is a great writer. Anything she writes I now have this need to be the first one in and get it. I wanted to tell her a mess of things about how exciting this was for me and how great I thought she was and well I think I just said "hi" or something like that. I'm not sure. I truly wish I remembered what I said. She was sweet.

Twilight Tuesday: Twilight Truck and Space Rides

Posted by Shelly on 24 Jun 2008 || Read more 5 Comments

MTV has posted up their Twilight Tuesday. This time they talk about the rides of Twilight - or, more specifically, Bella's truck. There's also a bit of spacey business going on.

A few Twilight Tuesdays ago, we introduced you to one of the iconic automobiles in Stephenie Meyer's blood-soaked, heart-wrenching realm: The Mercedes S55 AMG driven by Dr. Carlisle Cullen. But if that kick-ass automobile is the Millennium Falcon of "Twilight," then this week's special guest is the franchise's iconic U.S.S. Enterprise.

You can read the entire article here and see their video with Peter Facinelli talking about Dr. Cullen's nice toys here.

MTV's Larry Carroll has also been included in NASA's trip into orbit around the sun - or rather he's received a certificate of participation, along with many other Twilight stars and crew.

Since our initial post, The Twilight Saga has posted a note regarding upcoming titles, which you can also see here.

As some of you may have seen, a few fansites have posted a scanned brochure on upcoming titles in the Twilight Saga that was given out at a recent publishing trade show. The information in that brochure was never confirmed or final and the information contained in the brochure was never meant for the general public. We can, however, announce the following titles that will be coming out this fall in connection with the Twilight Saga:

* Twilight Saga Collection Box Set: Box set containing all four novels in the Twilight Saga (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn), including four limited-edition prints (October 2008; $83.00)

* Twilight Mass Market Movie tie-in: a mass market is a smaller size paperback, it will feature movie art on the cover (November 2008; $7.99)

* Twilight Trade Paperback Movie tie-in: this is the size of the current Twilight paperback, but it is being repackaged with movie art and will have a full-color movie poster inside (November 2008; $10.99)

Just a reminder that any publishing information that does not appear on www.thetwilightsaga.com or www.stepheniemeyer.com should not be considered confirmed or accurate.

Posted by Michelle on 18 Jun 2008 || 5 Comments

As we posted eariler, there is a Borders exclusive book being released this month from BenBella Books that discusses the Twilight Saga. The book is a compilation of different essay-like pieces from other young adult authors (like Cassandra Clare, Rosemary Clement-Moore, and Linda Gerber) who love the Twilight Saga! They discuss interesting topics like "Is Edward a romantic or a (really hot) sociopath?", "How is the Twilight series just like one of Shakespeare's tragedies?" and "Who would you rather date: the guy who thirsts for your blood, or the guy who drinks out of the toilet?" Check out the book on TeenLibris here!

Twilight Tuesday: How Faithful is the Movie to the Book?

Posted by Shelly on 17 Jun 2008 || Read more 7 Comments

MTV's Twilight Tuesday is once again upon us! This time, they investigate how faithful the movie is to the book.

Every good Twilighter remembers the moment early in the first novel when Edward Cullen is forced to reveal his superhuman powers in the school parking lot, instinctively saving the new student who has captured his heart. On the "Twilight" page, the moment leads to many paragraphs of anguished avoidance, as Bella tries to find an explanation (duh ... he's a vampire!) for the unexplainable.

In the film, those anguished early moments will be replaced by a field-trip scene that brings most of the major characters — including Jackson Rathbone's Jasper and Kellan Lutz's Emmett — together. On a school bus and in a greenhouse, the tension unfolds much more rapidly.

"There's probably a few less biology scenes than there are in the book, and there are probably fewer at Charlie's house, but mostly all the juicy stuff is there," Hardwicke explained of some of the verbose "Twilight" scenes that have been condensed for the film. "We might not go to the biology classroom five times. Instead, we went three times."

Click here to see the video. You can read the entire article here.

Our The Host contest is now closed, and we received some brilliant Breaking Dawn cover theories!

Myself and Michelle spent a long time going through all the entries, and finally agreed on our favourite.

The winner is: Neena W.

And this is her winning cover theory:

Edward, queen, is protecting Bella, pawn. The chess board represents the "game" they are playing with their relationship and its risks, rewards, sacrifices, and losses.

Thanks to everyone who entered, and look out for more contests in the near future!

New Press Articles

Posted by Michelle on 11 Jun 2008 || 0 Comments

There is an article from BooksOnBoard here about the success of Stephenie's The Host.

Stephenie Meyer’s first venture into adult fiction, The Host (romantic science fiction), made the bestseller list again, more than a month after its debut. Meyer’s Twilight Fantasy Series also enjoyed a surge in popularity. In addition to The Host, BooksOnBoard’s special edition Twilight Fantasy eBook bundle (containing the Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse eBooks) ranked in the top ten bestsellers.

Also, here is an article about the Twilight Tours in Forks.

The first Forks Chamber of Commerce Twilight Tour, which shows visitors places mentioned in Stephenie Meyer's novel and sequels, was a hit on Saturday, said Mike Gurling, Visitor Center manger.

The next two tours — on June 14 and June 28 — are fully booked, with this Saturday's tour drawing visitors from as far away as Ireland and New Zealand.

Last Saturday's inaugural tour took a fully-loaded 13-passenger van — filled with people from Ohio, Arkansas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Colorado and Arizona — to most of the locations highlighted in the books.

And the people at most of the tour stops played along.

Thanks to the Lexicon for the news!

Records from the road (The Host Tour: Part II)
Current mood: refreshed

Best T-shirts/costumes: Salt Lake City

Smoothest event: Denver (So is the superpower of the Denver-ites super-efficiency? Or is it super-politeness? Or do they have some kind of control over the space-time continuum? More research is required.)

Most familiar faces + most movie stars in attendance: Portland

Most boy fans: Los Angeles (37—and we only counted actually readers this time, though there were many supportive dads, brothers, uncles, husbands, and boyfriends in attendance.)

Loudest: definitely San Diego. (They also came in very close in the boy-fan and the familiar faces categories. It was a good place to wrap up my last big tour.)

Stephenie Meyer Blog: Copyright Issues

Posted by Shelly on 04 Jun 2008 || 3 Comments

Stephenie Meyer has posted a blog on her MySpace account about copyright issues.

Copyright issues
Current mood: jedi

As some of you may have noticed, many people who have typed out or scanned either the entire books, portions of the books or first chapter of Breaking Dawn have received (or should be receiving) a message from their hosting companies that notices were sent from my publisher to take the content down. I know people are eager to share their excitement about my books, which I love, but you may not be aware that making portions of the book available for download is violating my copyright (unless you have written permission from me or my publisher). Quoting a sentence or two is fine, but anything beyond that is in violation of copyright. Basically, copyright gives an author control over where, when and how her work is made available to the public. This exists to protect the author and her work – a lot of effort has been put into creating these books for you to enjoy -- so I hope people cooperate in respecting the copyright for all my novels.

Thanks!

This is really a big deal. Stephenie is really nice to let fan sites likes ours and others be around, but if people continually push her, she may decide one day to cut off everyone from having fun. There have recently been some big law suits with authors and fans (i.e. RDR Books/Steven Vander Ark vs Warner Bros/J.K. Rowling), and we all really don't want anything like this to happen with Stephenie.

So, people, listen to her...if it doesn't belong to you, then don't - DON'T - take it - don't copy it/re-type it/scan it. Period. In the end, if people continue with violating her copyright, we'll all pay, and make Stephenie, and all the fans, very unhappy. So, just say no...wink

MTV Movie Link for those outside of the US

Posted by Julia on 04 Jun 2008 || 0 Comments

Seth updated the Stephenie Meyer's page apologizing for posting the MTV link that couldn't be viewed for those outside the US.

"After posting the MTV.com link yesterday, I made a lot of enemies throughout the world. I was unaware that it would not be able to be viewed outside the US, and I apologize. Although I cannot change anything about the copyright laws, a solution has been reported to me. You can watch the full MTV Movie Awards, and then you will be able to see the clip. It would seem that the highest concentration of my new enemies are in Canada and the UK (and I haven't even ever been to either country), so I have found links to the full show especially for you."

Click here to get the links.

THESE LINKS ARE FOR THOSE THAT LIVE IN CANADA OR THE UK.

Although the MTV video has probably already been uploaded on YouTube and what not, it might be good to view it officially on the right webpage. ;]

Enjoy!

SheKnows.com: Stephenie Interview

Posted by Jenny on 01 Jun 2008 || 0 Comments

SheKnows.com has a brilliant new interview with Stephenie, about The Host and the Twilight movie.

To read it, go here.

SheKnows: Is it surreal for you that something so embedded in your imagination is now going to be on the screen for audiences to see?

Stephenie Meyer: Oh, yeah. I think the most surreal moment I had when I was on the set and it was a cafeteria scene. So there were literally 250 extras -- there were so many people. A giant room full of people, and all of them were there putting something together that I wrote in a quiet moment of life. It was just…wow.

About: I was skeptical at first about the series. All my friends were reading it in 9th grade and I just wasn't into it. I had been burned pretty bad by a relationship and I just wasn't believing the whole 'love story' thing. Then, on one fateful night, I was at a book sale and was desperately seeking a new read. Twilight seemed to be glowing on the shelf and I was drawn to buy it. I didn't know why, like I said, I didn't want to even think about love. I went home and cracked open the fresh book. I instantly related to Bella. Her feelings became my feelings. Her curiosity became my curiosity. I carried the book around with me everywhere I went. I found myself even slowing down in reading it because I didn't want it to end. I closed the back cover and took a deep breath, then I realized something. I had learned to believe in love again. A simple book and taught me to believe in what I thought just couldn't exist. I also learned that every girl deserves their very own Edward Cullen. No one should settle for just some guy. He needs to be your guy. Your dream guy. Well, let's say I am not a skeptic anymore. As a freshman in college, I find myself having a lot of free time to re-read the books... again. I have my own 59 song playlist for all the books on my i-Tunes and I love that it brings me back to the moments in the books. I have met so many people just by saying that I am a "Twilighter". It amazing how passionate you can become about a novel. I am so happy I bought Twilight on a whim. It has transformed my life and taught me so much about myself. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my Twilight story.

About: Recently, my youngest aunt died unexpectedly in her sleep.I was left in the most depressed mood that I've ever experienced. I felt like something inside my heart had fallen out, was missing, and would never come back. It was a physical condition that literally made me uncomfortable. I thought of New Moon, and how Bella feels throughout that book. She is always holding herself together with her crossed arms. I realized that this was the closest description to what I was feeling. My chest hurt, like it was falling apart inside. Then I thought of how Bella turns into a zombie for several months and decided that I didn't want to be like that. I didn't want to lose myself in grief, and I know my aunt wouldn't have wanted me to do that either. I know that this case is different, in that I will never get that piece of my heart back for good, but I don't want to be like Zombie Bella. I want to be strong, like Bella becomes after her loss. I will never forget how Twilight helped me straighten my thoughts and fix myself in the worst times of my life. It takes an amazing book to do something like that. And an amazing writer to portray such a real and painful emotion so realistically. From all of the ways that Twilight has changed my life, this is definitely the biggest. It helpled to support me when I thought nothing could, and gave me hope when everything in my world was bleak.
