Stephenie Meyer Branching Into the Adult Novel World

Posted by Shelly on 30 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

The Associated Press have an article (seen here on MSNBC) about Stephenie Meyer's new book The Host and how she's branching into the adult novel market.

“It would just be cool if my existing fans liked it,” the 34-year-old Meyer told The Associated Press. “And I hope to get some new readers who would never go into the YA (Young Adult) shelves.”

“We are not going to assume that every reader who loved the ‘Twilight’ series will love this book right away,” said Little, Brown publisher Michael Pietsch. “This is a different kind of book in a significant way and we don’t want to oversell it. But we do want it to be available at an appropriate level. This is probably the biggest printing we’ve had for a first adult novel.”

UPDATE: Twilight Comic-Con 'Absolutely'; Teaser 'Not Guaranteed'

Posted by Shelly on 30 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

On a follow-up of my previous posting, I was able to speak with the Summit Entertainment representatives to confirm whether or not we'd have a teaser with one of the blockbusters this next month. I was told that there is no guarantee, due to scheduling and other conflicts. So, lets keep our fingers crossed, Twilight fans, that we'll get some type of teaser in May.

On another note, when asked about some type of Twilight goodies during the San Diego Comic-Con July 24th to the 27th, I got an 'Absolutely'. Summit Entertainment will have a booth there that will include something with Twilight!

UPDATE: There was one other thing that I was trying to confirm for you (and some of you may know this already) and that was the official Twilight YouTube site. It includes all of the videos that Summit has published on your most anticipated upcoming film. Check it out here! Thanks, Summit Entertainment!:)

La Push Filming Set Report

Posted by Shelly on 29 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

Scullingonsquam has updated her blog with a set report from Ecola State Park for the La Push scenes in Twilight. Here are a few excerpts:

This first day on set, they were filming the scene where Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) is walking down the beach of La Push and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) is telling her the legend of ‘The Cold Ones,’ and the true nature of the Cullen family. I did feel bad for Kristen Stewart by the end of it though as she had to eat Red Vines throughout the scene; I can’t even imagine how many she consumed. She must have been sick! It didn’t take more than 10 seconds to believe that Kristen Stewart was Bella. She is a serious and dedicated actress that is most definitely channeling all that Bella encompasses; she seemed to be very internal, processing and preparing herself before every shot.

Make sure to check out the rest and some photos here!

Another MTV Staffer Become a Twilight Addict

Posted by Shelly on 29 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

Another MTV staff member has become a Twilight addict.

Sabrina, who says she's never been one to like book series, has now admitted she's hooked on our favorite vampire series. I’ve never been a hard-core fanatic of anything, not since I was a teenager, anyway. I read only the first third of the first “Harry Potter,” loved “Lord of the Rings” but didn’t go crazy over the movies, could take or leave most other novel series.

But something about your enthusiasm over the “Twilight” books got me curious...I downloaded “Twilight” onto my iPod last week, thinking it would be a fun diversion while washing the dishes and going to the gym. Huh, good plan. Five days later, I’m done with “New Moon” and trying to tell myself I should save book three at least for another week, so I won’t go into withdrawal too quickly. Like Bella on Edward and Edward on Bella, I am hooked in a totally unhealthy way... This is scary, 13-year-old-girl-level obsession.

Mike Welch Interview

Posted by Shelly on 24 Apr 2008 || 1 Comments

Michael Welch, who portrays Mike Newton in the Twilight film, recently spoke with Twilight Lexicon. Here's an excerpt:

Lexicon - Can you tell us a little about your Twilight audition process?
Michael - Catherine held what’s called a “mix and match” session, where actors reading for different roles auditioned together in order to determine which group of people had the most “chemistry.” Don’t worry, I don’t know what that means either. I got to work on a couple of scenes with Kristen, which was fun. Catherine was really funny. She definitely seemed like a cool potential boss.

Fangoria Twilight Set Visit: Plenty of Mayhem

Posted by Shelly on 23 Apr 2008 || 2 Comments

Horror magazine Fangoria got the chance to visit the Twilight set and has a small (but expect more!) report. Here's an excerpt:

Don’t let this “love story” talk turn you off, though. While that is certainly the element which has elicited such a visceral response from the books’ predominantly female fan base, there’s plenty of mayhem in the film. In fact, they’re filming one of those scenes this evening. “There is a lot of action in the movie,” Hardwicke confirms. “When you read the book, it stays in [Bella’s] head and she implies a lot of action. We show it.” Referring to one sequence in particular, she elaborates that “we see the dismemberment, we see the limbs being ripped apart, we see the head being spun off.” Wait—isn’t this supposed to be PG-13? “Shhh,” Hardwicke says with a wicked smile. “Don’t tell anyone.”

TV Report: Weather Causes Twilight Film Delay

Posted by Shelly on 23 Apr 2008 || 1 Comments

Oregon Fox affiliate Fox 12 are reporting that the weather caused a delay with the filming of Twilight on Monday.

Despite the weather not cooperating, the people behind "Twilight" said Oregon has been a great place to shoot and they're almost ready to wrap.

"We needed the Pacific Northwest," said producer Greg Mooradian. "The geography is definitely a part of our story. The reason why this coven of vampires has chosen to live in the Pacific Northwest is because of the lack of sunlight."

Stephenie Meyer Blogs on Slash Film Article

Posted by Shelly on 22 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

Stephenie Meyer has posted another blog from her MySpace, this time about the Slash Film article we told you about.

My two cents...
Current mood: ninja

...in regards to the flame war over at slashfilm.com:

I thought the article was fascinating (I fear math; consequently statistics impress me enormously). It was so cool to hear that Taylor Lautner was ranking higher in imdb interest than ANY OTHER ACTOR IN THE WORLD. Amazing. And also how popular all the other Twilight actors have been in recent search history.

There's really no need to get upset just because the author is new to Twilight. Everyone was a newbie once, right? And if other posters want to trash the book, that's their right. Thanks for the passionate defense, but I'm not under any illusions that I'm the reincarnation of Jane Austen. I have fun writing my books, plenty of people have fun reading my books, and that's more than enough for me. Let's make love, not war :)

The point is statistics, my friends! Numbers! (Don't stare at them too long, though, or math-related thoughts might invade your head.)

Michael's Blog Update

Posted by Michelle on 20 Apr 2008 || 6 Comments

Michel Welch has updated his blog talking about the "why should people call the Twilight fans" controversy. Click here to read it!

You know what I believe? I believe in a world where twi-hards, twilighters, TOs, TwilightMoms, Bella-enthusiasts, Edwardheads, and label-less fans of the saga can stand side by side, saluting the same Twilight flag! I believe in free expression, and the right of every Twilight fan to call themselves whatever they feel best suits them. I see no need for a single, unifying term. ... Basically what I'm saying is, get out your brown paper bag Nikki-Wa, cause "Twi-hard" ain't goin' nowhere!

Rachelle Lefevre articles

Posted by Michelle on 19 Apr 2008 || 1 Comments

Here are two articles about Rachelle Lefevre. Thanks to the Lexicon for the info! Article one: here. Article two: here.

The 29-year-old just wrapped production on Twilight, the Catherine Hardwicke film version of the best-selling and award winning novel about vampires at a rural Washington state high school.

That Stephenie Meyer book is part of an incredibly popular series. And all things considered, the first film is expected to be a huge hit when the movie rendition opens in December.

Speaking by phone from the Portland set, Lefevre confesses she didn’t realize how popular the books were with teens and young adults until half way through filming. In the movie, she plays Victoria, a renegade vampire who along with boyfriend James disrupt the clandestine lives of a family trying to keep small-town secrets about their blood-loving ways.

Twilighters.org Interview's Edward's Double

Posted by Michelle on 19 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

Chris and Geo over at Twilighters.org managed to get an interview with Robert/Edward's double for the Twilight movie. Click here to listen/read it!

Geo: What’s it like being on the set?

ECD: Its great. It’s so much fun! I didn’t realize how serious this was. Its amazing, you know, with all the actors and everything. It’s crazy because a whole group of fans somehow figured out where the set is, and they always used to post up. It was pretty funny because I would always come out of the trailer, and they would think I was the actually actor. So I’d put a little show for them, it was pretty funny.

Geo: Is anybody nervous because fans have high expectations for the movie?

ECD: I’m not sure about the actors. Actually, I think I’m more nervous then anybody else, but I don’t know. I would say it’s a pretty relaxed atmosphere. I wouldn’t say anything to crazy though.

These Vampires Aren't Your Dark and Dreary Undead Type

Posted by Shelly on 15 Apr 2008 || 5 Comments

The Associated Press have posted an article that was done while Twilight filming took place in the biology class room at Madison High School in Portland. Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) was interviewed in the article, and states he is the vampire that, "falls in love with a mortal and destroys both of their lives, in a romantic and loving way."

The article describes the vampires as not being your dark and dreary undead type. Instead, they're more James Dean cool with a dash of Superman strength.

Regarding this, Robert went on to say, "I'm atrociously unfit. Every tiny little stunt takes it out of me. I think I pulled my hamstring on the first stunt of the first day just trying to pick Bella up, and she weighs about 100 pounds."

Support Robert Petition (again)!

Posted by Michelle on 12 Apr 2008 || 4 Comments

I just received an email from Kaci, who started the "Support Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen" petition here. Many of you probably remember us posting something about it a while back and asking you guys to sign. Well, the good news is that they already have 3,759 signatures! Their goal is 5,000 signatures so why don't we all help them out a little more?

If you haven't signed the petition yet, please do so by clicking here. Also, this is another little idea that Kaci told us about in her email:

"We thought it might be cool to have everyone who signed the petition send in a picture of themselves that could be sent with their signature, to sort of make every name seem more significant -- instead of just a number, Rob can see each and every actual PERSON who loves and supports him!

So, if you're willing to help us out one more time, we would be so thankful if you would post another little blurb about the petition. Just include the following: "If you're willing and have signed the petition, please send a picture of yourself (just you) to robpetition@yahoo.com, with the subject line " PHOTO" (ex: "Kaci Yoder PHOTO"). It will be printed out and sent to Rob along with your signature."

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer on vamps and peace

With her bestselling debut novel, teen vampire tale Twilight, about to be made into a movie, it comes as something of a surprise to learn that Stephenie Meyer isn't really into bloodsuckers on celluloid. "I'm not a vampire person," she confides in Red Alert. "Before I started writing about them, I didn't read vampire books and I've never seen a vampire movie. I'm not into horror and the dark, bloody side of vampires. My roots are in superheroes and Saturday morning cartoons. I'm fascinated with the idea of superpowers, and vampires was the closest I could think to them."

Posted by Michelle on 07 Apr 2008 || 20 Comments

Thanks to Insomnia for telling us that there's a new video on MTV featuring Taylor Lautner on the Twilight set! Click here to see it! It's basically an interview about his new wig for the movie wink

Taylor Lautner is a 5’ 9”, newly 16-year-old who recently discovered his own Native American heritage and is spending equal time learning to drive and developing the look for his new movie. “The wig is very interesting,” Lautner told us Friday when we caught up with him on the Portland, Oregon, set of “Twilight.” “I’m definitely going to have to get used to it.”

Cast Interview with MTV

Posted by Michelle on 07 Apr 2008 || 2 Comments

According to the Twilight Moms, Larry (a friend of their's at MTV) gave them this message today regarding the interviews MTV conducted with the cast of Twilight:

I interviewed pretty much the whole cast between Thursday and Friday, including Kristen and Robert both together and separately. I'll be rolling out tons of stuff in the weeks to come, as soon as I can start sorting it all out. I appreciate you keeping an eye out for it and passing it along to your homies. If I remember right, the biggest questions that got them giggling were about their kissing styles, etc.

Posted by Michelle on 05 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

Hey guys, a lot of you recently have been asking for a RSS feed on this site so I finally decided to make one. For those of you who don't know what a RSS feed is, it's basically something you can subscribe to and it'll update you whenever we make a new news post on the site! You can subscribe through many different places such as Yahoo, Google, Bloglines, and many more. So whichever one you check the most, you can use for your RSS feeds! Subscribing is easy, all you have to do is click the orange button below (or at the bottom of the footer) and it'll bring you to a page where you can choose how you want to subscribe. After that it automatically appears on your selected page!

Edit// I realized the RSS feed didn't work earlier but with the help of Dijares, I think I've got it to work now! Try it and tell me what you think! Thanks so much Dijares!

Also, don't forget to give Stephenie a hundred on the Time poll! Click here to vote. Stephenie's number 2 again, now let's see if we can make her number 1! Just go to the page and drag the bar up to 100 and click 'submit,' it's that simple!

More SciFi Now Scans

Posted by Michelle on 06 Apr 2008 || 1 Comments

Thanks again to Jenny we now have two more scans about the Twilight movie from the UK's SciFi Now magazine! I've added them to the gallery here. Please credit if you use them on your site! Thanks Jenny!

The Kristen Stewart article reads:

FACTS: Kristen Stewart, last seen in The Messengers, has signed on to star in Catherine Hardwicke's big-screen adaptation of Twilight, the first book in Stephenie Meyer's bestselling young adult vampire-romance series. Melissa Rosenberg adapted the screenplay, and Summit Entertainment is looking to begin production in February.

COMMENT: Stewart is a fine bit of casting and should fit the role nicely, possessing all the strength and vulnerability the role needs, and Hardwicke has proven herself to be a dab hand at expertly handling teen-themed movies. Cross your fingers, this could be one to watch.

TMs Interview with Edi Gathegi

Posted by Michelle on 05 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

The Twilight Moms have a new interview with Edi Gathegi (Laurent). Click here to read it! Thanks Twilight Moms!

TM) What's your favorite Twilight moment?

EDI) I LOVE the moment where Bella realizes that she is in love with Edward.

TM) What do you feel is the group dynamic between Laurent, Victoria and James in the books and how are you three planning on portraying that in the film? How do you, Cam and Rachelle get along?

EDI) As Laurent points out to Dr. Cullen, James is the most lethal, ruthless vampire he's seen in his long lifetime. I think Laurent figures, why not align himself with the power? Instead of against it. He goes for the path of least resistance.

Victoria is James' "girlfriend" but I have a feeling that she, being pretty ruthless herself, and damn sexy, has things going on with other "men". So maybe there is a little love triangle going on there. Maybe....

And as far as Cam and Rachelle go...
GREAT people to collaborate with.

Filming at Carver Cafe

Posted by Michelle on 04 Apr 2008 || 1 Comments

The Twilight Moms have reported that the Twilight movie will be filming at Carver Cafe in Carver, Oregon soon! They have renovated the whole place for the movie (but they're still keeping the name) and the owners plan to keep the cafe like that even after the movie! This is a little of what the TMs had to say about it:

"A scene from Twilight involving Bella, Charlie, and several Forks High students was filmed at the cozy and quaint Carver Café this week. And to answer your question, no you are not crazy; this is not a part of the book. It is however an important and pivotal scene in the movie that shows the conflict Bella is feeling over her not-so-normal relationship with Edward. It is also the place she bonds with Charlie."

They also have pictures here!

Twilighters.org Interview's Peter

Posted by Michelle on 04 Apr 2008 || 1 Comments

Wow, all these Peter interviews lately laughing and we have another one! This time from Twilighters.org. Click here to read the interview! Good job Chris and Geo!

T: Is it scary knowing that the fans have really high expectations for the
film?

PF: Although we understand the responsibility we have in being faithful to
the fans in adapting the story to the big screen, at the end of the
day, the only thing we can do is try to make the best picture we can,
and hope that the fans like it. With so many fans, and everyone having
their own interpretation, we hope the fans keep an open mind, and know
that this is an adaptation. It can never match up to how they visualized
the story in their imagination, but we hope in looking at it with a fresh mind,
that they can accept our interpretation and enjoy the movie.
That being said, it is very scary. We don’t want to let the fans down.

Stephenie in Twilight

Posted by Michelle on 04 Apr 2008 || 13 Comments

MTV just made a blog post saying that Stephenie will be making a cameo appearance in the Twilight movie! Click here to read the post!

Meyer’s cameo takes place at a diner, during a quiet moment. While the filmmakers wouldn’t confirm whether she has a line or not, the Alfred Hitchcock comparisons would seem to imply a silent “wink” to her sizeable fanbase.

Michael Welch's new blog Entry

Posted by Michelle on 02 Apr 2008 || 0 Comments

Michael Welch recently posted another new blog entry on his site, click here to read it! He even mentioned the sock joke the Twilight Lexicon started! laughing

I love you guys. "Ha ha ha!" Did you really send me socks? That's incredible. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, let me briefly explain. A little while ago, before I began my road trip up to Portland, I mentioned that I was low on socks. I picked up a 12 pack in Berkeley and figured that that would be the end of it. Then Twilight Lexicon tells it's readers: “Hey! Let's send Mike socks! It'll be funny!” And they did!!! Not only did the twi-hards dig the idea, they followed through with it. One complete joke from idea to conception, THAT''S fan commitment. I have so many socks now it's ridiculous. You guys are beautiful. I appreciate the gesture very much.

More Car Pictures

Posted by Michelle on 01 Apr 2008 || 2 Comments

Jeaner5 from Twilight Moms Forums has some new pictures that she took of the Twilight cars. There's one of Charlie's police cruiser and two of the Volvo! Click here to read her whole story. Also, if you hadn't figured it out yet, the merging of the sites was an April Fools joke, we're not really moving or merging. Anyway, here's a little excerpt from Jeaner5's trip story.

As we drove further to the falls (we wanted to check out the Silver Creek Falls themselves) we came across the police cruiser and the Volvo. I was so excited. The cars were parked in a random spot – the side of a road – really not near anything. I don’t understand why they were parked where they were. Lucky for me; I was able to check them out and got some great pictures.

Merging Sites

Posted by Michelle on 31 Mar 2008 || 0 Comments

I've been waiting to post this for quite some time now. After some long and interesting conversations with the admins of Twilighters.org and StayTwilight.com, the three of our sites have decided to merge together into one big fansite. The reason for this is because Chris and Geo over at Twilighters.org, Kate from StayTwilight.com, and yours truly are all planning to move to Forks, Washington very soon. Over there we will be purchasing a house and making it our office. The good news it, we will be renovating the house to look like the Cullen house! How exciting is that? So without further ado, here is the new and merged Twilighters.org, StayTwilight.com, and BellaAndEdward.com...

Month: November 2009

Name: Dana
Age: 19
Location: OH, USA
About: I was skeptical at first about the series. All my friends were reading it in 9th grade and I just wasn't into it. I had been burned pretty bad by a relationship and I just wasn't believing the whole 'love story' thing. Then, on one fateful night, I was at a book sale and was desperately seeking a new read. Twilight seemed to be glowing on the shelf and I was drawn to buy it. I didn't know why, like I said, I didn't want to even think about love. I went home and cracked open the fresh book. I instantly related to Bella. Her feelings became my feelings. Her curiosity became my curiosity. I carried the book around with me everywhere I went. I found myself even slowing down in reading it because I didn't want it to end. I closed the back cover and took a deep breath, then I realized something. I had learned to believe in love again. A simple book and taught me to believe in what I thought just couldn't exist. I also learned that every girl deserves their very own Edward Cullen. No one should settle for just some guy. He needs to be your guy. Your dream guy. Well, let's say I am not a skeptic anymore. As a freshman in college, I find myself having a lot of free time to re-read the books... again. I have my own 59 song playlist for all the books on my i-Tunes and I love that it brings me back to the moments in the books. I have met so many people just by saying that I am a "Twilighter". It amazing how passionate you can become about a novel. I am so happy I bought Twilight on a whim. It has transformed my life and taught me so much about myself. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my Twilight story.

Month: October 2009

Age: ---
Location: USA
About: Recently, my youngest aunt died unexpectedly in her sleep.I was left in the most depressed mood that I've ever experienced. I felt like something inside my heart had fallen out, was missing, and would never come back. It was a physical condition that literally made me uncomfortable. I thought of New Moon, and how Bella feels throughout that book. She is always holding herself together with her crossed arms. I realized that this was the closest description to what I was feeling. My chest hurt, like it was falling apart inside. Then I thought of how Bella turns into a zombie for several months and decided that I didn't want to be like that. I didn't want to lose myself in grief, and I know my aunt wouldn't have wanted me to do that either. I know that this case is different, in that I will never get that piece of my heart back for good, but I don't want to be like Zombie Bella. I want to be strong, like Bella becomes after her loss. I will never forget how Twilight helped me straighten my thoughts and fix myself in the worst times of my life. It takes an amazing book to do something like that. And an amazing writer to portray such a real and painful emotion so realistically. From all of the ways that Twilight has changed my life, this is definitely the biggest. It helpled to support me when I thought nothing could, and gave me hope when everything in my world was bleak.
